True Widow
With the demise of the pummeling punk band Slowride, songwriter Dan Phillips walked away from music for a brief stint in woodworking before returning to his fist love. He formed True Widow as an attempt to make space between him and his previous incantation, and set out to create melodic and heavy music that slowed the pace and heightened the power. Now a fully formed trio, True Widow is equal parts shoegaze and soaring post rock, but with surprisingly heartfelt lyrics and magnificently beautiful subtleties. CHARLIE SWANSON
