Goblin Cock

Every now and then there is a musical oddity that surfaces amongst the ocean of hipsters and cookie-cutter indie-rock bands.  One that seems to cut through all of the pretentiousness and cliquey rigamaroll to show us once again that rock n’ roll is truly king of the mountain.  Ladies and germs, the latest band to do that is Goblin Cock.  From the most medieval parts of San Diego, the five piece bringeth the rock in a big way, and not just from a musical level.  From all ends of the spectrum, this band saturates fans with the power and glory that only true rock gods can.

For those of you that are unaware, Pinback’s Rob Crow is the voice of this doomy yet in some ways campy outfit. Choosing to go under the moniker of Lord Phallus, the vocal stylings are most definitely not what you will find on any Pinback album, but is still undeniably Crow.  Along with Bane Ass-Pounder (guitar), King Sith (bass), Braindeath (drums), and Loki Sinjuggler (keyboards), theirs' is a solid mix of stoner-rock, Gregorian Monk, and Spinal Tap musings.  But do not be confused mere mortals, these guys mean business.

Taking the stage donning full robes, runes, and B.C. Rich guitars, Goblin Cock are on a mission to put an end to false metal. Their lyrical themes are both brutal and silly at the same time, but in the best way possible. Whenever you have one song about “The Revenge of Snuffaluffagus”, and then have another on the same album speak of “Kegrah the Dragon Killer” you’re doing A-OK in my book!  Their latest album, Bagged and Boarded is available through Absolutely Kosher Records, and is well worth the effort.
