Jay Howell
Jay Howell is from Sacramento, California but currently lives in the Mission District in San Francisco. While living in Sacramento he formed the record label Mt St. Mtn. with his friend Mark Kaiser. They were able to release challenging music in limited, uniquely packaged runs of vinyl. Very eager to collaborate on an audio/visual project, the two friends wanted to “put the art back into art-punk”. Jay Howell participates has a passion for zines, because of the feeling of a final tangible art product which is personal and thoughtful instead of disposable. Zines can be given away to people that really want it as opposed to being thrown away cheaply. His book Negatron is a compilation of old “Punk Git Cut” zines revised with new drawings and content.
