Snowden
With the 2006 release of their debut full-length Anti-Anti on noted indie imprint Jade Tree, tuneful quartet Snowden is out to prove there's more than crunk coming out of the ATL. Formed in 2004 by principle songwriter Jordan Jeffares to flesh out bedroom demos he'd recorded during his senior year in college, the group crafts a melancholy sound that recalls '80s post-punk touchstones like Joy Division and the Cure, without stooping to the simplistic, skinny-tied regurgitation of so many neo new-wave acts. -DAVE PEHLING
