You've gotta wonder why it's taking radio so long to embrace local quintet the Audrye Sessions, whose delicate, swelling ballads seem custom-made for indie-pop success. Led by Ryan Karazija's graceful, swooping voice, which easily navigates through the Sessions' predilection for grand vocal harmonies and wailing guitar sequences, the band projects a sweet, hook-driven sensibility. Only faintly kissed by the angst-ridden lyricism of emo punkers like AFI and My Chemical Romance, the Sessions' lush songs of heartbreak and alienation also make reference to the work of Elliott Smith and Morrissey, two experts in love and loss. -CONNIE HWONG - Noise Pop 2007 Program Guide

The East Bay's Audrye Sessions came together after members violinist Anton Patzner and lead guitarist Mike Knox responded to a Craigslist ad. Nowadays, Patzner isn't touring with Bright Eyes and the Faint or playing his violin on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, the band is writing epic, swirly Muse-esque emotional music, described by Ryan Miyashiro of Amoeba Music as "the soundtrack for first kisses." -Caroline Partamian - Noise Pop 2006 Program Guide
