THE DODOS & MAGIK*MAGIK ORCHESTRA COLLABORATIVE PERFORMANCE
Don't let the title of The Dodos newest release, Time to Die, fool you, the San Francisco trio have long strayed from the fate of their namesake, adopting a dynamic and thoroughly catchy pop sound that continues to evolve through each release. Enhanced by the addition of vibraphonist Keaton Snyder, The Dodo's songs flow through moments of melodic saturation and expanding rhythms on stage, with each breakdown moving listeners pleasantly closer to utter exaltation.
Progressing from an initial solo act for singer/songwriter Meric Long to a longtime duo with drummer Logan Kroeber, The Dodos are now taking yet another major leap forward for this year's one of a kind Noise Pop performance. Joined by 26 members of the local Magik*Magik Orchestra, who have recently shared the stage with fellow Noise Pop artist John Vanderslice, prepare to hear an entirely new take on The Dodos' characteristically charming and ridiculously technical indie pop. Of practicing with The Magik*Magik orchestra for their forthcoming performance, The Dodos recently commented online, " Singing with a girls' choir is like running through a beautiful field of poppies." As if you needed further convincing.
