This San Francisco women’s choir was formed in 2007 under the artistic direction of Joyce Todd McBride, who reinterprets familiar songs with provocative arrangements. The choir’s repertoire includes songs by Bjork, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, The Ramones, and many more. A sister group to Conspiracy of Beards (an all-male Leonard Cohen tribute choir), Conspiracy of Venus is comprised of about 50 singers, and has performed to sold out venues, opening for the Mountain Goats' John Darnielle, Two Gallants and Emily Jane White, among others.
