WALLPAPER
March 1 - Rickshaw Stop
Like a superfly Superman, Eric Frederic (A.K.A. Wallpaper head honcho Ricky Reed) ditches the six string and dives headfirst into funk beats reminiscent of Rockwell, Color Me Badd, and "Controversy"-era Prince when he hits the stage as Wallpaper. Also the guitarist for local prog outfit Facing New York, Frederic has been spreading the Gospel According to the Gap Band for the last few years, bringing only a drummer and his iPod for support. It's easy to see why Frederic made the switch to neon funk—because what's the point of being a musician if you can't get down and dorky once in a while? TYLER MCCAULEY
