Etienne de Rocher's just released self-titled debut has been years in the making. The Oakland resident's folk-rock and soul sound begs comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Elliott Smith, but there's something in his imagery and attention to detail that puts distance between himself and the pack of artists following similar paths today.
