2006 was a blast, but lets move on people. Make
sure to visit the 2007
site to
find out about the upcoming festival.
Vodka Latka:
If you don't have a tree, you don't have an excuse!
Mark your calendars and dust off your menorahs! Noise Pop is teaming up with
JDub Records to throw Vodka
Latka, a different kind of Hannakah celebration at The Independent, December
14th. The night starts with cocktails and latkas upstairs in the Independent
balcony, then a unique
Menorah lighting ceremony followed by musical performances by Golem and everyone's
favorite all male acapella Leonard Cohen tribute group, San Francisco's own Conspiracy
of Beards. And if that wasn't enough, they'll be high stakes dreydl too... all
proceeds go to charity.
We are very pleased to announce the first few confirmed
bands for Noise Pop and also let you know about some of the other
great things we are going to be bringing you for our stellar 15th
Anniversary on February 27 - March 4, 2007!
So far we have confirmations from the reunited original lineup of
Sebadoh, Teo Leo and the Pharmacists, John Vanderslice, Midlake, Vic Chestnut,
Ghostland Observatory, and Jolie Holland - many
other great bands are on the way.
In addition to the music, we will put on on our first-ever Noise Pop
Expo at the Swedish American Hall, a two-day event (March 3-4)
featuring a day stage, Indie Night School panels, Noise Pop and Shop,
art installations, a poster show, and much more. Of course we will
hold our annual film festival as well and we have many other
surprises and special events for you this year, so check back often
for updates and badge sale information!

Noise Pop Artist Thomas Campbell in The New York Times
Artist Thomas Campbell created the 2006 Noise Pop Festival poster which included numerous elements that were utilized to create this year's t-shirts, buttons and even the Noise Pop website. In addition, Thomas' work has been featured in many gallery shows, graced album covers by Ugly Cassanova and others on his Galaxia record label, as well as apparel by Paul Frank. He was profiled in The New York Times Magazine's August 19 issue in an article entitled 'The Swell Life' which characterizes him as a renaissance dude "who keeps everything at hobby's distance to further his enjoyment of life."
